Rockport
With Wednesday's temperatures approaching 90 degrees, we decided on a visit to Rockport, a tourist destination at the extreme eastern end of Cape Ann. Many of the tourist-oriented businesses (galleries, restaurants, shops) are located on a small peninsula called Bearskin Neck.
Because it is one of the most photographed and painted buildings in the country, the red lobster shack above is called Motif #1. I took this photograph from the embankment behind the local camera shop.
Bearskin Neck and its jetty enclose part of Rockport Harbor. Straitsmouth Island Light can be seen in the distance.
My Place by the Sea, at the tip of Bearskin Neck, is truly one of the finest restaurants I've ever visited, both for the cuisine and the views.
The tangle of tenders and dinghies created an interesting and colorful pattern along the Rockport Town Pier.
