Orleans

Memorial plaques line the dock railing at Rock Harbor. The tides run 10 feet plus at this point in Cape Cod Bay, so the Rock Harbor channel, extending past the jetty, is usually marked with dead trees driven into the bottom. Buoys would just lie uselessly on the mile of sand flats during low tides.

The Rock Harbor sport fishing fleet was in full operation during Memorial Day weekend. Some boats were bottom fishing, while others trolled for stripers. When the water warms up, bluefish, tuna, bonito. and other species will become available.

The Triton had been bottom fishing. The mate has filleted two cod and is working on a flounder that might be a bit short.

Some of the fish winds up at Cap't Cass, at the end of the wharf, where you can buy fish or sit down to a fried or broiled platter.
