Hotel Casa Maya

The Casa Maya is located at km 5.5 in the Cancun hotel zone. We had a comfortable suite on the fifth floor.

From the veranda (Kathleen's favorite spot), we had views of both the ocean to the north and the lagoon to the south. The low building with the white roof is a terrific Italian restaurant, Dolcemente Pompei (run by three Italian families), where we dined on Valentine's Day (spaghetti ai fruits de mer for me, fusilli ai funghi for Kathy). It was so good that we went back Friday for pizza and another bottle of chianti.

On the horizon in this shot, you can see the Isla Mujeres (Isle of Women). We visited the island aboard a 40' catamaran for a sailing/snorkling/beach club lunch/shopping adventure. It sounded so innocent when we booked it. We didn't know about Pedro and his bottomless tequila bottle. More to come...

All perfection. Maybe not the tequila. We'll see.
